/ʼatamannaa ʼan ʼusaafira ʼilaa ilʼurduni/

 

Means

 

I hope to travel to Jordan

 

 


 

أَتَمَنَّى ذَلِكَ

 

/ʼatamannaa THalika/

 

Means

 

I hope so

 

 


 

إِذا

 

/ʼiTHaa/

 

Means

 

If

 

“إِذا”

 

would be used for possibilities

 

 


 

The conditional sentence:

 

إِذا دَرَسْتَ نَجَحْتَ

 

/ʼiTHaa darasta najaHta/

 

If you study, you will succeed

إِلَّا إِذا

 

/ʼillaa ʼiTHaa/

 

Means

 

Unless

 

 


 

لَنْ تَنْجَحَ في الإِمْتِحانِ إِلَّا إِذا دَرَسْتَ

 

/lan tanjaHa fee ilʼimtiHaani ʼillaa ʼiTHaa darasta/

 

Means

 

You will not pass the exam unless you study

would be used to show a fact that would have happened in the past if it is done under certain conditions

لَوْ قَرَأْتَ هَذا الكِتابَ لَفَهِمْتَ

 

/law qaraʼta haTHaa ilkitaaba lafahimta/

 

Means
