To form a feminine word from a masculine word we add ة / ـة

 

to professions, humans and animals

 

As in

The word Idaafa means “addition” or “annexation”.

 

The Idaafa is used to indicate possession in Arabic

 

As in

 

كِتابُ الوَلَدِ

 

/kitaabu ilwaladi/

This kind of annexation occurs when two nouns are linked

together and immediately follow each other

 

As in

 

بَيْتُ الرَّجُلِ

The first noun of Idaafa is always indefinite

 

As in

 

بَيْتُ الرَّجُلِ

The second noun of Idaafa can be definite or indefinite.

 

If it is a proper noun it should be indefinite

 

As in

 

كِتابُ زَيْدِ

The second noun of Idaafa often ends with Kasra

There are two major forms of plural nouns:

 

– The sound 

 

– The broken

 

 


 

 The sound can be further divided into:

 

– The sound masculine plural 

 

– The sound feminine plural

 

 


 

Sound plurals are created by adding a suffix to the singular noun.
