The 2022 FIFA
World Cup is an international football tournament involving the men’s teams of
FIFA member associations and the 22nd FIFA World Cup.
It is taking
place in Qatar from November 20 to December 18, 2022. And will be the first
World Cup in the Arab and Muslim world. The World Cup was awarded to Qatar in
2010.
It is the most
expensive World Cup ever held, at an estimated cost of over $220 billion.
Venues:
The first five proposed venues for the World Cup were
announced in early March 2010.
Qatar wanted the stadiums to reflect its history and
culture, and their design to meet the following requirements: heritage,
comfort, accessibility and sustainability.
The stadiums are equipped with cooling systems, which
aim to reduce the temperature inside the stadium to 20 °C (36 °F).

Let’s cover two of the stadiums in FIFA World Cup 2022
in Qatar:

Al Bayt Stadium
Al Bayt Stadium’s role was to host the FIFA World Cup
2022™ Opening Match. Inspired by the Qatari nomadic bayt al sha’ar, the
stadium’s magnificent tent structure surrounds the ultra-modern football
stadium.
The main development of Al Bayt Stadium has been
sustainability, with the top tier planned to be removed after the tournament,
allowing the seats to be put back into use.
Environmental practices extend to the surrounding city
of Al Khor where the numerous parks, lakes and protected greenbelt land stretch
out from the stadium to the sea – ensuring a lasting legacy from the world’s
most welcoming stadium.

Lusail Stadium:
The design reflects the handmade bowls found in the
Arab and Islamic worlds during the rise of civilization, while the light shows
reflect regional lanterns.
Over time, the gold exterior will fade, replicating
the craftsmanship of aged metal to create a living place with a cultural touch.
On December 18, 2022, 80,000 fans will gather here for
the biggest ever FIFA™ World Cup final. Subsequently, in line with Qatar’s
commitment to sustainable development, the new Lusail Stadium will be
transformed into a community space of schools, shops, cafes, sports facilities
and health clinics.
About $45 billion were spent for the construction of
Lusail.
