She had many titles; The Hereditary Princess, The Lady of Grace, The Lady of The Two Lands, The Great King's Wife, The Lady of All Women, and many more. What do you know about Nefertiti?


Neferneferuaten Nefertiti (c.  1370 – c. 1330 BC) was a queen of the 18th Dynasty of Ancient Egypt. and the great royal wife of Pharaoh Akhenaten. Together with her husband, she reigned perhaps the richest period in the history of ancient Egypt.


We don't know much about her life before her marriage. But there is some valid information about her.


The Meaning Behind the name


Nefertiti's name, an Egyptian name, means "The Beautiful Woman Has Come". She is the symbol of beauty and feminine power.


Interesting Facts


Nefertiti had six daughters in 10 years of marriage. Two of her daughters became queens of Egypt.


The earliest images of Nefertiti come from the Theban tombs. These images show her as she played a more prominent role in the Theban temple, as she served as priest. She also participated in the ritual slaughter of enemy women in Egypt.


After His Death

Nefertiti vanished soon after Akhenaten’s 12th regnal year. But, unfortunately, there is no record of her death. And moreover, no evidence that she was ever buried in the royal tomb at Amarna.


Her Death


Possible causes of death include trauma, a plague ravaging the city, and natural causes.


Although archaeologists had never discovered her body they discovered a burial in the Valley of the Kings. That made them believe that Nefertiti could be one of the unidentified bodies in the royal mummy hiding place in the Valley of the Kings.


Modern Discoveries


Nefertiti was forgotten until 1912. Back then a German archaeological mission discovered a bust of Nefertiti among the ruins of the sculptor's Amarna workshop.


In the 1920s a museum in Berlin displayed the bust. And it received so much attention from all over the world. Although her left eye is missing, the bust granted her recognition of being the most beautiful woman in the world.


Love Story


This love they had made Nefertiti fight the whole world for her lover Akhenaten. She supported him in his crisis by changing the religion. And even accompanied him to his new capital "Akhetaton" and  challenging the priests of Amun!
