Let’s continue building your foundation with some crucial time-related vocabulary:

Understanding the days of the week is fundamental for everyday communication. Here are the basic Arabic words you need to know:

  • Monday in Arabic: الإثنين (elethnain)
  • Tuesday in Arabic: الثلاثاء (ethalaatha)
  • Wednesday in Arabic: الأربعاء (elarbia’a)
  • Thursday in Arabic: الخميس (elkhamees)
  • Friday in Arabic: الجمعة (eljuma’a)
  • Saturday in Arabic: السبت (elsabt)
  • Sunday in Arabic: الأحد (elahad)
  • Weekend in Arabic: عطلة نهاية الاسبوع (utlat nihayit il’usboo’)

To help you use these basic Arabic phrases, here are a few examples:

  • “See you on Monday.” (أَرَاكَ يَوْمَ الإِثْنَيْنِ. – ʾarāka yawma al-ʾithnayn.)
  • “Today is Tuesday.” (اليَوْمَ الثُّلَاثَاءُ. – al-yawma ath-thulāthāʾu.)
  • “The weekend is Saturday and Sunday.” (عُطْلَةُ نِهَايَةِ الأُسْبُوعِ هِيَ السَّبْتُ وَالأَحَدُ. – ʿuṭlatu nihāyati al-ʾusbūʿi hiya as-sabtu wal-ʾaḥadu.)

Knowing the months will also greatly enhance your ability to talk about time in Arabic. Here are the simple Arabic words for the months:

  • January in Arabic: يناير (yanayir)
  • February in Arabic: فبراير (fibrayir)
  • March in Arabic: مارس (maris)
  • April in Arabic: أبريل (ʾibril)
  • May in Arabic: مايو (mayu)
  • June in Arabic: يونيو (yunyu)
  • July in Arabic: يوليو (yulyu)
  • August in Arabic: أغسطس (ʾugustus)
  • September in Arabic: سبتمبر (sibtambir)
  • October in Arabic: أكتوبر (ʾuktubar)
  • November in Arabic: نوفمبر (nuvambir)
  • December in Arabic: ديسمبر (disambir)

Here are some basic Arabic phrases using the months:

  • “My birthday is in January.” (عيد ميلادي في يناير. – ʿīd mīlādī fī yanāyir.)
  • “We travel in August.” (نُسَافِرُ فِي أَغُسْطُسَ. – nusāfiru fī ʾaġusṭus.)
  • “December is the last month of the year.” (دِيسَمْبِرُ هُوَ آخِرُ شَهْرٍ فِي السَّنَةِ. – dīsambiru huwa ʾākhiru šahrin fī as-sanati.)
