Learning Arabic for Beginners

So we talked about online material, and now it is time to talk about how we could use this material effectively. Firstly, it is important to find out what the child actually knows before he or she gets started. This is done by taking things one step at a time. You, as the teacher, must start with the most basic of all Arabic learning: the alphabet.

Go through the alphabet one by one, specifically asking for examples whenever you can. Allow the child to draw pictures or express him or herself and show you what he or she knows.

A lot of people start teaching the Arabic alphabet using the letters. This is actually not the right way to teaching Arabic to a child. You need to start with the sounds. This is because some letters have more than one sound. For example, the letter /jeem/ ج is pronounced differently in /ʒamal/ جمل , meaning camel, than in /a Dʒal/ أجل, meaning yes.

Teaching Arabic for a child needs more than that of course. After this technique, slowly start putting consonants and vowels together. But you need to make sure that every consonant is covered with every vowel. Start with one consonant at a time. Then place it with all the Arabic vowels.

Once that’s done, start making words.

To make it easier, create nicknames for special letters or situations. This is to make the more difficult words or letters more memorable.

Kids remember by seeing. So use a lot of visuals whenever you can. This includes actual real material. For example, when you are talking about apples, try to bring in a real apple. Studies say it will stay in their minds for longer periods of time. Plus, you get to eat an apple while you help teach a child.

We hope this article helped you find the resources you need. All the above-mentioned websites should have plenty of material. Also, we hope it helped you with teaching the young kids Arabic the right way.
